ZUBER- Ocala Speedway owner Michael Peters recently posted the first part of the 2009 racing schedule online at www.OcalaSpeedway.com, but it came with a disclaimer announcing that the schedule is subject to changes. And as fate and luck would have it, the opportunity to give more to the racers and fans has availed itself to Peters, and schedule changes have come as a result before the first races have run.
The most noticeable change is in the February 27th opening night schedule as the debut of the V8 Thunder Stocks has been pushed back a week to make room for a $500 to win Hobby Stock Feature. The upgraded Hobby Stock race will make a nice complement to the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series season opener that headlines the evening, and allows Ocala Speedway to demonstrate immediately that it intends to give extra opportunities to the racers and fans whenever possible. The Mini Stock feature remains on the schedule with the Hobby Stock and UDLMCS races, while the V8 Thunder Stocks will debut the following Friday along with the Open Wheel Modified division.
Peters continues to search for additional opportunities that allow Ocala Speedway to do more, and therefore warns that further positive changes might be coming soon. Fans and racers should remember to check the schedule at www.OcalaSpeedway.com for those changes as they happen, or contact the track at 352-622-9400 for more information.
An open practice session this Saturday, February 21st, will give racers a chance to try out the new racing surface at Ocala Speedway that was recently put into place, and top get their cars ready for opening night the following Friday. Admission for the practice is $10 per person and $5 for children 12 and under, and the public is invited to attend for a sneak preview of the 2009 racing season before it begins. The pit gate will open at 11AM with practice getting underway at 1PM.
