Nationally Syndicated Radio host Bubba the Love Sponge Clem buys Ocala Speedway

. Posted in Racing News

Bubba and his group of investors closed yesterday on the famed Ocala Speedway Wednesday April 13th 2011. Ocala Speedway is the oldest track in Florida, the famed Dirt oval first opened in 1952 as a clay/dirt track, functioned as dirt for 45 years, turned to asphalt for 10 years then back to its modern day surface clay in 2008. Ocala Speedway has hosted and continues to host some of the best dirt racing in American along with other speciality events, such as a special Monster Truck show this weekend with the Famed Grave Digger.

Racing sanctioning bodies such as USAC,WOO,ASCS,and UDLMS also have visited and will continue to visit the famed dirt oval located within 2.5 hours of almost anywhere in the state of Florida. Bubba with his Nation wide radio reach, and relationships he has established within the racing community will market/promote the track quite aggressively.

” I obviously bought this place as a investment, but also want to give back to the racers. I myself have raced here and other tracks in Florida and outside of Florida for over ten years, and for the most part track owners are greedy scum-bags. They want to make a great living at the expense of the racers. Very few track owners want to give back, well those days are over at my track. Most tracks here in this area and even outside of Florida dont even offer very attractive end of the year point funds, that will change as well. And while we are changing things, I am announcing now the new name of the track will be Bubba Raceway Park. So if your a track owner be mad or change your ways, if your a racer, come to my track and have fun, be treated fair, and get paid square.” Bubba said.

After this weekends Monster Truck show, we will be closing down till Friday May 13th we then will be having a Re-Grand opening 5000 to win late model race Named the first annual Bubba Army Open.

Look for our new websiteBubbaracewaypark.com to be up by early next week for details about Friday May 13th race. Also info regarding the new revised 2011 schedule and the 32,000 dollar end of the year points fund which will start the night of May 13th

Hope to see you soon, Bubba the Love Sponge Clem

DARLAND STRETCHES NATIONAL WIN STREAK TO 23 YEARS WITH SUNDAY OCALA WIN

by BRP Media
Ocala, Florida…….Dave Darland added to the most impressive streak in USAC history on Sunday night at Bubba Raceway Park, as he added another AMSOIL National Sprint Car win to his list and made it 23 consecutive seasons with at least one win in a USAC National series. The Lincoln, Indiana veteran’s all-time record 54th National Sprint Car win came in flag-to-flag fashion aboard the Phillips Motorsports – Trench Shoring #71P DRC/Foxco. “My crew had to work their asses off just to get the car ready for the feature after some issues in the heat race and then gave me a great car even without having much chance to keep up with the track. We have just had some bad luck out of the gate, but tonight was a great way to rebound. It’s good to be down here while it’s snowing at home, and I can drink a beer to celebrate while it’s warm outside. And it’s good to get my first win in the state of Florida!” Darland said. Darland led at the start over polesitter Chris Windom, while Robert Ballou was the early man on the move, jumping into the top-five in just a few laps after starting tenth. A red flag on lap six brought things to a screeching halt as Brady Short flipped hard into turn three and collected Landon Simon. Neither driver was hurt. After a tangle on the ensuing restart, Ballou found himself bringing out the next caution as he slid to a stop in turn-three, giving up the fifth spot but restarting at the tail. Under that caution, defending champion and current point leader Brady Bacon… read more
