This week at Bubba Raceway Park the UMP Open-Wheel Modifieds headline the night with the Late Models, Mini Stocks, Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks, and Gladiators all racing for points as well. Just like every week, the drivers will be looking for some major points nights in search of a championship.
Last season when the UMP Open-Wheel Modifieds came to Bubba Raceway Park everyone was looking for Jeff Mathews and Kyle Bronson for they dominated the season. That, however, is a past season, and the 2010 Amsoil V-8 Thunderstock champion at Bubba Raceway Park, Scott Mooers, will be looking to battle as well as Garett Stewart and Wayne Hammond. The winner will take the points lead and this could set the tone for the 2011 season.
The Late Models, however, have a different story. Tyler Ivey, a part-time driver at Bubba Raceway Park in 2010, is the points leader after the Mike Peters Open and he can win anytime he hits the clay. "Catfish" Keith Nosbisch is always a front-runner at Bubba Raceway Park and he would love to put the 02 machine in victory circle. Never forget that Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. can bring the 21 to Bubba Raceway Park and compete and the same of the #58 of Big Frog Motorsports' Mark Whitener. The season is still up for grabs!
After 2 races, Jason Gamble hasn't relinquished control of the Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks champion standings, but the longer he does that the bigger the target on his back. Ray Wheeler and Chad Scranton have been right there with Gamble and either could take the victory circle to no one's surprise. Brian Shea has had 2 consecutive top-10 runs and if the opportunity arises he will take the chance to put the #19 in victory lane. Jason Blackner will be back trying to avenge last week's bad luck, and a win would be a great return.
Ray Folwell continues to win and will do all in his power to keep doing the same. Charlie Staats has had 2 strong runs and will attempt to put the 09 in the victory circle. Ray Rogers continues to put his Mini Stock up front, and points do equal championships, and with top 5s come wins. Nick Kerr, the 2010 Mini Stocks champion, is still searching for a win in 2010, but he could take it at any time. Ryan Babcock wants to put the 9 at the front and after a top 5 2 weeks ago, Babcock knows he can do it.
Steve Cox took the first feature for the Gladiators in 2011 and what's better then a repeat? Collin Kruse and Bubba Puyear would love to take the fight to Cox and will do all in their power to take the win. Reid Christiensen was always a threat in 2010 when he ran the 30 and nothing less is expected in 2011. Jason Burnside will be looking to get the 985 in victory lane, but only time will tell for the Gladiators.
