The four-truck Grave Digger team will face off against a team of Monster Jam's bad boys including Mohawk Warrior, Monster Mutt Rottweiler, Metal Mulisha, and Dooms Day. Another Night Of A Thousands

. Posted in Racing News

Every night that fans and drivers come out to Bubba Raceway Park means a night of a thousands, but that's memories and times we hear of the great racing. This week-end, however, contains $1000 for the winners as well. With the UMP Open-Wheel Modifieds and Florida Mini Sprints Association headlining the night and the Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks, Mini Stocks, and Gladiators all getting a bonus prize for winning, nothing is for certain.

The Mini Sprints make their 1st of 9 scheduled stops at Bubba Raceway Park in 2011 and everyone wants to draw first blood. However, 1 thing is for certain, and that is that every time the Florida Mini Sprints Association comes to Bubba Raceway Park they are greeted with the roar of the crowd and they put on a great show.

UMP Open-Wheel Modified racing at Bubba Raceway Park is always a treat, especially for Jeff Mathews. Mathews dominated the early season last year and wouldn't mind doing the same in 2011. Of course, the man 2nd in points, Mathews Motorsports driver (only in the UMP Open-Wheel Modifieds) Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. would like to snag victory from team-owner and good friend Mathews, if Lloyd does in fact race the 333 again. Jamie Carter made a strong return to the Bubba Raceway Park clay and snagged 3rd in the points. A win could put Carter on top of the standings in a quest for the Cross-Forest Title. Steve Whitener put the 8W near the front last time out and plans on doing the same this time, just a few spots higher. Jim Passino is 5th and a strong run could give him a win.

The Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks have had a crazy season with Jason Gamble taking the first 3, and Chris Shea striking when Gamble had an early throttle problem. Jason Gamble still has the Certified Automotive Repair Team out front, but Vaughn Woodall has put his 3W within 34 points of Gamble. In 3rd is Chris Watson who took his season best finish of 4th last week-end, and he would love to go a few spots higher. Jonathan Gillette has used consistency to keep his 64 in 4th place and could move up a few spots with a first career victory. Gordon Cade keeps his 121 out of trouble and is therefore 5th in the standings, but a win and some other driver movement could move him up to the lead in a hurry.

Bubba Raceway Park's Mini Stock division has seen Ray Folwell in the 21X dominate, taking 3 of the last 4. Folwell will strive to ccontinue the dominance, but will be holding off a hard-charging Ryan Babcock. Babcock, 52 markers down, will have to use consistent top finishes, as he's been doing, to catch Folwell and hold the rest of the pack. Brittany Yates, already a winner in 2011, is 3rd, just 11 behind 16-year old Babcock, and will attempt to move up the charts. A win would do wonders for her attempts at catching Folwell. In 4th is Chris Zimmermann who is only 6 behind Yates. Zimmermann has steadily gained knowledge of the clay and took a season best finish of 2nd last week-end. Another 6 down is Ray Ethridge. Ethridge has had some top 5 runs and if he keeps it up he could be holding the championship trophy at year's end.

The Gladiators are ready to battle once more on the clay, but the man they're all chasing is Steve Cox in the 'Penny car.' Cox is 2-0 in 2011 and that gives him a 34 point advantage over Michael Carr. Carr can't look ahead fully, however, as Greg Boynge and Brandon Haseleu are tied for 3rd, just 1 behind Carr. In 5th is Jerry Taylor. Taylor came very close to taking a win home in 2010, and wants to close the deal in 2011. A win could push him to 2nd in a heartbeat as he's only 9 points out of 2nd.

Gates open at 4:30 with racing scheduled for 7. For more information about this Saturday night you can check out www.bubbaracewaypark.com or call the Speedway hotline.
