Top Gun Sprints To Invade Ocala

. Posted in Racing News

ZUBER FL- In February of 2008 the newest dirt late model series in the region chose Ocala Speedway for their inaugural race.  That event drew a standing room only crowd and helped launch the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series into becoming the premier racing series in Florida.  That success has gotten the attention of yet another racing series, and this Friday night the Top Gun Sprint Car Series will visit Ocala Speedway for their inaugural race, and hopefully will become yet another success.  This new sprint car series is getting promising press, and expects to draw a competitive field of sprint cars to Ocala.  In addition to the Top Gun Sprints, fans will witness exciting action from the Hobby Stocks, Amsoil V8 Thunder Stocks, and the Gladiators.

Ocala Speedway will also welcome some very special guests to the track this Friday, as Pastor Tim Gilligan of Ocala's Meadowbrook Church, and his wife, Alicia, will be on hand for the opening ceremonies.  Pastor Gilligan will conduct the pre race invocation, and Alicia Gilligan will perform our National Anthem.  Pastor Gilligan is not only the founder and senior pastor at Meadowbrook Church, but is also known through the Life of Faith television ministry which airs on WCJB TV20 each Sunday at 11AM.

The Top Gun Sprint Car Series was the brainchild of the Dirt 4 Dirt promoters group, an effort created through cooperation between the owners and promoters at four Florida dirt tracks.  East Bay Raceway Park, Volusia Speedway Park, North Florida Speedway, and Ocala Speedway, have combined the sprint cars from East Bay, and the Jacksonville/North Florida sprints, under a common set of rules, and Don Rehms has signed on as the series director for 2009.
The pit gate will open at 2PM on Friday, and the grandstand gate will open at 5PM.  Fans are reminded that "Special Event" pricing will be in effect for this week's action.  There will be a practice session at 6:30PM, with heat races beginning at 8PM.
