6/22/13. Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and E-Mods all put on wonderful shows that kept the fans excited throughout the night.

Bubba Christian opened up the night from pole and he led through the first few cautions for minor spins. On lap fifteen, his Uncle Grady got around him and would not look back. Plenty of restarts kept everybody close, and with five to go it looked like Tim Powers had saved his equipment for the right time, but he got shuffled to the high side and never recovered. "The Altoona Assassins" put "The Big Lake Boys" back in their spots as Grady Christian led nephew Bubba across the line in a 1-2 for the Fastech team. Powers finished third, Dennis Williams ran as hisgh as second but slipped to fourth in the final rundown, and Brian Hansford completed the top five.

The E-Mods started off with three different leaders in three laps, Shane Taylor being the first of those three. Taylor gave way to Tim Grubaugh, Jr. only for Grubaugh to let David Whitener sneak in and steal the lead. Grubaugh and Taylor put the yellow out on lap three when Grubaugh got loose and spun both drivers out of turn four. Whitener couldn't be stopped as he won convincingly over Shane Nichols. Shane Taylor finished third, Shawn Taylor was fourth, and Daryl Larson completed the top five.

Darrell Padgett took his machine to the front for the Late Models, and he stayed there until Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. made the most of a restart to overtake Padgett on lap twelve. A few minor cautions set up a lap twenty-eight restart on which Kyle Bronson stole the lead from "The Professor." The final caution came out with eight to go after Tyler Clem's #14 stopped on the backstretch while he was running well inside of the top ten. Lloyd had the lead back by lap forty-four, and won the fifty lapper for his first win of 2013 on his home turf. Bronson wound up second, right in front of Jason Fitzgerald. Tyler Ivey and Padgett rounded out the top five.

The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks had an intense show as well with Randy Strehle opening up a lead after he drew pole position. On lap four, after working his way into the top three, Jason Gamble saw his night go sour with some mechanical problems on the Donnie Dobbins prepared #33. Strehle lost the lead to Grady Christian on lap sixteen and Strehle began to slip back a little after getting caught on the outside. Just two laps after Christian took the lead, Jon Layerd put the Tom Sheehan owned #75 to the point. A lap twenty-four restart allowed Mike Stalnaker to take the lead after he started in fifteenth, and he never would relinquish that lead. Some beautiful driving was shown when Ray Wheeler spun while riding third with a chance to win. He completed the 360 spin and was still in the top ten, but it did end his chances at the win. Tommy Hill passed Layerd with two-to-go and they finished that way, with Christian and "Big KD" Kevin Durden completing the top five.

NOSBISCH TAKES BUBBA RACEWAY PARK NeSMITH LATE MODEL WIN

by BRP Media
Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, FL celebrates his fifth career NeSmith Late Model win and his first in seven years on Friday night at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL during the Rock Auto.com Winternationals driving the Image Skin Care Rocket. (photosbytrace.com)OCALA, FL – No matter where the competition comes from, Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, FL has always been tough when it comes to keeping the big money in the Sunshine State. Friday night was no exception, as Nosbisch took his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series career win and his first in seven years during the Rock Auto.com Winternationals at Bubba Raceway Park. Nosbisch, a 30 year veteran of Florida dirt late model racing, was the class of the field, as he set fast time honors to earn the pole position for the 50-lap race, and led 44 laps to collect the $3,000 top prize driving the Image Skin Care Rocket. Nosbisch lost the lead for six laps to Walker Arthur of Forest, VA, but stuck to his inside groove to retake the point. “The lapped cars really slowed my pace down by a half a second, and Walker caught me behind a lapped car and passed me for the lead on the outside,” Nosbisch said. “I knew if I was patient enough, I could get back under him if the lapped cars would give me enough room and they did.” Wednesday night’s race winner, Mark Whitener of Middleburg, FL finished second in the Dave’s Towing Special and Arthur ended up third in the Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farms Special. Arthur leads the NeSmith Late Model… read more
