OPENING NIGHT HONORS TO RHOADS, STALNAKER, SNYDER, APPLEBY AND WHITENER

ON A BEAUTIFUL CLEAR SATURDAY NIGHT, THE 2014 SEASON OPENER WAS READY TO GO. HEAT RACE ACTION FOR THE BUBBA ARMY HOBBY STOCKS WAS WON BY MIKE STALNAKER AND SEAN MONAGHAN. THE SCORPION RACING PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS HEAT RACE WINS TO PAUL SNYDER AND AUSTIN SANDERS. THE RACE CAR ENGINEERING LATE MODEL WIN WENT TO PHILLIP COBB. THE BUBBA ARMY V8 THUNDERSTOCKS HAD THREE HEAT WINNERS. THE FIRST HEAT WOULD GO TO BRIAN MORGAN, SECOND TO SHANE NICHOLS AND THE THIRD TO MIKE STALNAKER. NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN THE BUBBA ARMY GLADIATOR HEAT HONORS BELONGED TO NATHAN RHOADS.

FIRST FEATURE UP AND READY TO RACE WAS THE BUBBA ARMY HOBBY STOCKS. ON THE FRONT ROW WERE RICHARD CALMES AND SEAN MONAGHAN.  QUICKLY TAKING THE LEAD CALMES WOULD LEAD THE PACK WITH CALMES AND MIKE STALNAKER AT HIS BACK DOOR. NEXT CIRCUIT AROUND STALNAKER HAD PASSED CALMES AS HEADED TOWARDS OUR LEADER.LAP 6 THE CAUTION WOULD WAVE FOR OUR THIRD PLACE DRIVER CALMES, WHO SPUN ON THE FRONT STRAIGHTAWAY FACING ON COMING CARS. WITH THE GREEN FLYING MONAGHAN WOULD LEAD AGAIN ONLY TO BE PASSED BY STALNAKER THE NEXT LAP. JERROD BENTON WOULD BRING OUT THE NEXT CAUTION , LOSING HIS RIGHT REAR TIRE AFTER KISSING THE WALL OUT OF TURN FOUR. THE GREEN OUT AGAIN STALNAKER WOULD TAKE THE FIELD TO THE CHECKERED FLAG FOLLOWED BY SEAN MONAGHAN, RICK ELWOOD, AUSTIN CARR AND RICHARD CALMES.

NEXT UP WERE THE SCORPION RACING PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS. AT THE POINT COMING OUT OF TURN FOUR WERE THE DUO OF PAUL SNYDER AND AUSTIN SANDERS. THE RACE FOR THE FIFTH SPOT WAS ON BETWEEN BILL HOWARD AND SCOTT MOOERS GETTING SIDEWAYS TOGETHER ON THE FRONT STRETCH. THEY GOT IT STRAIGHT AND KEPT IT GOING. SNYDER HAVING NO PROBLEM WORKING THROUGH LAP TRAFFIC WAS TAKING COMMAND.  AUSTIN SANDERS AND JEFF MATTHEWS WERE PUTTING ON AN AWESOME BATTLE FOR SECOND PLACE. THE FIFTH SPOT WAS A BATTLE AS WELL WITH BILL HOWARD AND SHANE NICHOLS SWAPPING THE POSITION BACK AND FORTH. WITH ONE LAP TO GO THE CAUTION WOULD WAVE AS LENNY ONEIL WOULD STOP IN TURN FOUR. THE GREEN AND WHITE WOULD WAVE TOGETHER AS THE TOP THREE OF SNYDER, SANDERS AND MATTHEWS WERE BUNCHED TOGETHER. IT WOULD BE NO PROBLEM FOR PAUL SNYDER TO BRING IT HOME FOR HIS FIRST WIN OF THE 2014 SEASON. FOLLOWING SNYDER WAS AUSTIN SANDERS, JEFF MATTHEWS, BILL HOWARD AND SHANE NICHOLS.

RACE CAR ENGINEERING LATE MODELS WERE UP NEXT FOR THIER 50 LAP MAIN EVENT. THE FRONT ROW WAS LEAD BY KENNY MONAHAN AND BILLY HOLMES. COMING OUT OF TURN FOUR IT WOULD BE LEAD BY MARK WHITENER, MONAHAN IN SECOND AND PHILLIP COBB FOR THIRD. LAP TWO THE CAUTION WOULD BE OUT FOR COBB WHO HAD A FLAT LEFT REAR TIRE. AT THE GREEN WHITENER WAS QUICKLY LEADING THE WAY. THE FIGHT FOR SECOND PLACE WAS A THREE WAY FIGHT BY HOLMES, TYLER CLEM AND KYLE BRONSON. THE CAUTION WOULD WAVE ON LAP 11 AS TYLER CLEM AND BILLY HOLMES WOULD SPIN TOGETHER IN THE MIDDLE OF TURNS ONE AND TWO. TOUGH LUCK WOULD FIND KYLE BRONSON ON THE SAME CAUTION AS HE WOULD HAVE TO PIT FOR A FLAT RIGHT REAR TIRE. WITH GREEN WAVING ONCE MORE IT WOULD BE WHITENER WITH A COMMANDING LEAD. WHITENER WOULD LAP ALL BUT THE SECOND AND THIRD PLACE CARS BEFORE THE CAUTION WOULD WAVE ON LAP 32 FOR DEBRI IN TURN ONE. THE LEAD WOULD CHANGE FOR ONE LAP AS PHILLIP COBB WOULD PASS WHITNER. BUT ON THE NEXT LAP WHITENER WOULD TAKE IT BACK. WITH 7 LAPS TO GO BILLY HOLMES WOULD SPIN IN TURN FOUR. AT THE GREEN ONCE AGAIN COBB WOULD LEAD AGAIN ONLY FOR WHITENER TO PASS TO THE FRONT. AT THE FINISH IT WOULD BE MARK WHITENER FOR THE $3000 PAY DAY WITH PHILLIP COBB IN SECOND, THIRD TO KYLE BRONSON, FOURTH TO JAKE PERKINS AND FIFTH TO TYLER CLEM.

BUBBA ARMY V8 THUNDERSTOCKS WERE ON THE GRID FOR THIER $1000 TO WIN BIG EVENT. COMING OUT OF TURN FOUR FOR THE LEAD WAS MARCO REYES WITH JONATHON APPLEBY AND MICHAEL STALNAKER ON HIS BUMPER.  THE RED FLAG WOULD WAVE ON LAP 4 ,AS SHANE NICHOLS AND BRIAN MORGAN WOULD FLIP OVER EACH OTHER IN A WILD CRASH HEADED INTO TURN ONE. BOTH DRIVERS WOULD BE OKAY BUT THIER RACING MACHINES WOULD NOT BE. GREEN OUT AGAIN THE LEAD WAS HELD BY MARCO REYES TO ONLY GO TWO LAPS AND THE CAUTION WOULD BE OUT FOR MICHEAL VALDES WHO WOULD GO NOSE FIRST INTO TURN TWO WALL WITH NO MAJOR DAMAGE. AT THE HALF WAY POINT IT WOULD BE NEW LEADER APPLEBY UP FRONT LEADING THE WAY UNTIL LAP 11 JEFF STALNAKER WOULD SPIN OUT OF TURN FACING ON COMING CARS ONLY TO BE HIT BY MELVIN FOCKLER. WITH THE GREEN OUT ONCE MORE APPLEBY WOULD LEAD THE WAY TO FIND MARLON DURBIN RUNNING SIDE BY SIDE WITH HIM. MARLON WOULD TAKE THE LEAD WITH ONE LAP TO GO. WITH A LAST LAP PASS COMING OUT OF TURN FOUR JONATHON APPLEBY WOULD TAKE THE WIN WITH MARLON DURBIN IN SECOND FOLLOWED BY MICHAEL STALNAKER, MARCO REYES AND PATRICK MENNENGA. A VERY HAPPY APPLEBY WOULD COLLECT HIS $1000 PAYDAY.

BUBBA ARMY GLADIATORS UP NEXT FOR THIER BIG A MAIN. FRONT ROW DUO OF EMILY CONLEY AND JASON TACKETT. RACING TO THE FRONT AND LEADING LAP ONE WOULD BE NATHAN RHOADES WITH DAVID LADRIE AND JOEY BRINSON CLOSE BEHIND. NEXT CIRCUIT AROUND THE SECOND SPOT WOULD BE HELD BY BRINSON. THE CAUTION WOULD WAVE ON LAP 6 AS TACKETT WOULD SPIN IN TURN FOUR. AT THE HALFWAY MARK IT WOULD BE RHOADES BEING HARD CHASED BY JONATHON GREEN AND JOEY BRINSON. WITH TWO LAPS TO GO THE YOUNG LADY DRIVER CONLEY WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS AND BRING HER RACER TO A STOP ON THE FRONT STRAIGHTAWAY. WITH GREEN WAVING AGAIN IT WOULD BE NATHAN RHOADES TAKING THE CHECKERS WITH JONATHON GREEN, JOEY BRINSON, DAVID LADRIE AND JASON TACKETT FOLLOWING.

Attention Race Fans

After consulting with drivers and teams, Bubba Raceway Park and Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Officials have cancelled tonight's event due to inclement weather and there will be no make-up date. Join us next Friday for opening night of our 2015 racing season. The schedule will include UMP Modifieds, E-Mods, Galaxy Fireworks Hobby Stocks, V8 Thunderstocks and Mini Sprints. Pits will open at 5pm, grandstands at 6pm, hot laps will begin at 7pm and racing will start promptly at 8pm. For more information, call the office at 352-622-9400. read more
